On the ordinary, generalized and pseudo-variational equations of motion in nonlinear elasticity, piezoelectricity and plate theories

Abstract

Ordinary, generalized and pseudo-variational equations of motion in three-dimensional, theories of nonlinear elasticity and piezoelectricity have been discussed in our early and recent works. By integrating with respect tot he thickness coordinate, a there-dimensional variational equation can be reduced to a two-dimensional one for a plate, from which plate equations are written. When higher-order thickness effects are taken into account, the volume and surface integrals in an ordinary variational equation can be integrated separately to yield the plate field equations and boundary conditions, respectively.
