Abstract
This paper discusses basic principles in the design of wave front dividing ring interferometers for the far infrared band. The frequency range that may be studied with the ring interferometer depends on the entrance and exit aperture diameters selected. The lower frequency is determined by the amount of intensity which may be detected with the selected aperture while the upper frequency is determined by the amount of first order light not shielded off by the aperture.
