Abstract
Collaborative systems are pushing at the boundaries of a great many research paradigms that grew up with either the concept of serving the individual user or serving the organization. It pushes many of the neat boundaries that are established in order to arrive at clear cut reductionism to commonly accepted metaphors and beliefs. The trends and observations accepted in collaboration technology that needs considerable rethought are discussed.
