Abstract

Unlike the linear equalizer, the decision feedback equalizer (DFE) compensates for the channel distortion without enhancing noise. In order to combat ISI in dispersive time-variant channels, adaptive equalizers that need a training sequence to update the equalizer tap weights, are commonly used. When transmitting training sequences is not appropriate, blind equalization is more suitable. A new algorithm, known as the decorrelation algorithm was introduced for blind equalization. It decorrelates the input signal to the decision device of a decision feedback equalizer reducing the ISI at the equalizer's output. In this paper, the complex DFE with the decorrelation algorithm is studied. When the channel phase shifts the data vector or the receiver is not perfectly tracking in phase, restoring the original data phase blindly with the DFE structure proposed is a problem. This problem is studied and solved adding a bootstrap interrail interference separator.
