Abstract
Preliminary data indicate that laminates containing high-density foams have properties close to those of wood particle board, whereas the characteristics of low-density foams would allow them to be used in non-load-bearing or low load-bearing applications. As such, testing by variable span bending was under way to determine flexural and shear stiffness of the sandwich panels. Testing have also undertaken to determine thermal stability, thermal expansion, transport properties, freeze-thaw resistance, and flame retardancy in order to establish benchmark performance and pricing of competitive products.
