Abstract
Legislation relating to the formation of disinfection by products (DBPs) following the use of disinfectants in drinking water treatment is outlined. Precursor control and removal strategies, based on natural organic matter (NOM) in the water, are described. The treatment process suitable for treating different NOM fractions are listed. The spectral fluoresent signature technique coupled with a multiple linear regression model for the rapid identification of the different NOM fractions is described.
