Abstract
In this paper, we analyze the performance of linear CDMA multiuser receivers with rake combining in multipath fading channel and compare their BER performances in turbo-coded system. To simplify the analysis, we used similar approach to the standard Gaussian approximation. We assume the use of long spreading sequences for conventional matched filter detector while short spreading sequences for linear multiuser receivers. To obtain the PDF of the combiner output SNIR, a simplified SNIR expression is derived by averaging over all possible combination of time and phase delays but conditioned on the channel gain and the random cross-correlations of spreading waveforms. Then, we evaluate their BER performances in a turbo-coded system by taking average over the output SNIR. The approach shown here can provide helpful insight for system design and planning in 3G wireless systems.
