Abstract
The linear and nonlinear optical properties of germanium (Ge)-implanted ordered arrays of silica spheres were studied at λ = 0.532 μm. The Ge-implanted films exhibited the largest refractive index ratio yet measured in such media, with littlest ion-implantation damage. The ion implantation of the structures was made at various energies and fluences.
