Abstract
Significant professional development programs are needed for teachers to address new skills and and knowledge necessary for improved classroom teaching and learning. Some of these features are added in a Council of Chief State School Officers report that focuses implementing these features for teaching and learning. Some of these features include active learning, coherence learning, and coherence and content focus. These features are essential for implementing concepts of pharmaceutical engineering in high school curriculum. The Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) program has also been designed to include these features to improve the skills of teachers for implementing concepts of pharmaceutical engineering in high school curriculum. A focus is needed on content in existing curriculum material that creates connections between the science used in real world and the science curriculum standards used for teachers and administrators.
